Jack nuts are a unique type of threaded fastener, specially designed for use with light duty, thin, or brittle material. They accomodateslightly oversized holes with a large back side footprint similar to a wall anchor When installed, the body of jack nut collapses on theback (blind) side to form four legs which grip the inside of the mounting surface, When tightened, the body collapses to form legs whichgrip the inside of the mounting surface, leaving a permanent, reusable threaded insert. Available in steel, brass and steel with PVG orRaintite coating. These blind fasteners require a specialized tool for proper installation.
Large slits in the body allow these rivet nuts to collapse and flare when you fasten them with a screw. A backside flange distributes theforce to resist pullhrough in thin metals. Nuts for a minimum material thickness of 0.016" include a friction-wrench tool to hold theflange in place when installing with a screwdriver. For quicker installation, use a rivet nut tool. Length is measured from under theflange
